Chili Day Looking for Volunteers

Hello Brothers and Sisters,

My name is Sandra Hunt and I am the Union rep for the Women’s Committee.  A while back, I had a conversation with Tana MacKay and I asked her what she thought the Women’s Committee rep should do.  We got to brainstorming and we came up with some ideas and I wanted to share them with you.

Tana expressed an interest in raising some needed money for the ‘Hardship Fund’.  This is a fund that is used to help brothers and sisters who for one reason or another have fallen on hard times due to illness or other circumstances.  There is a criteria that is followed before any of the money is released, however, this fund is depleting and we felt this is a place we could start.

We thought we would kick off with a “Chili for Lunch” Fundraiser.  We are looking at Wednesday, February 11th.  We are still working on details for the day but I am hoping to recruit some volunteers and here is how you can help:

  • make a pot of chili
  • make a dessert we can sell such as Nanaimo bars, tarts, cupcakes or loaves
  • supply a bag of buns
  • or simply support the cause by buying a bowl of chili

We will also be looking for volunteers to help serve chili February 11th between 10:00 am -15:00pm.  Please email me the times you are available to help.  We will need volunteers for both VTC and LTC.

Watch for details on an exciting fundraiser we have planned for March.
